Abstract:
To provide a rotary electric machine avoiding drop of brush life, while maintaining an arc suppression effect obtained by a high resistance part.SOLUTION: A main brush 33 of a rotary electric machine is held in a housing, and is brought into slide contact with a commutator 80 on an outer side in a radial direction of the commutator 80 during rotation of a rotor. An auxiliary brush 31 is arranged on an end side in a rotation direction with respect to the main brush 33, and is brought into slide contact with the commutator 80. The auxiliary brush 31 is arranged in such a manner that an interval L1 with the main brush 33 on a circumference of the commutator 80 is less than a length L2 in a circumferential direction of each of commutator segments 81, 83, 85. A high resistance part 41 is arranged apart from the commutator 80; is formed of a material having a higher resistivity than that of each of the main brush 33 and the auxiliary brush 31; and is electrically connected between the corresponding main brush 33 and auxiliary brush 31. In this manner, generation of an arc can be suppressed to reduce noise with no occurrence of wear of the high resistance part 41.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
