Abstract:
To provide a rotary electric machine with which it is possible to generate a rotation torque to a rotor even when a stator winding can only be supplied with two-phase AC currents out of three-phase AC currents.SOLUTION: A rotary electric machine 10 comprises: a stator 12 for generating a revolving magnetic field by flowing three-phase AC currents in a stator winding 18 wound around a stator core 16; and a rotor 14 for generating a rotational torque by interaction of the revolving magnetic field by the stator 12 and a magnetic field generated by a DC current flowing in a field winding 32. The rotor 14 includes a first magnetic pole part 26 using a permanent magnet as the source of a magnetomotive force and a second magnetic pole part 28 using a DC current flowing in the field winding 32 as the source of a magnetomotive force, there being a phase difference in a circumferential direction between the first magnetic pole part 26 and the second magnetic pole part 28. When only two-phase AC currents, out of three-phase AC currents, can be supplied to the stator winding 18, the DC current controlling the magnetomotive force of the second magnetic pole part 28 is changed and a rotational torque is thereby generated to the rotor 14.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
