To provide a rotary electronic component, of which the number of parts are small and only one compression coil can make an operating member return to a neutral position by itself, and further, which can be made a flat one.

This rotary electronic component 100 is composed of an operating member 110, a housing 120, a coil spring 130, a sliding electric contact 140, a flexible circuit board 150 and a fixing cover 160. The coil spring 130 is mounted in a compression spring storing concave area 122 of the housing 120. Spring-pushing projections 115a, 115b on a supporting plate 113 of the operating member 110 are located at either end of the coil spring 130. The sliding electric contact 140 is fitted to a sliding contact mounting projection 116 formed on the other surface of the supporting plate 113. The flexible circuit board 150, on which an electrode pattern 153 is formed from its outside, is fitted to the housing 120. Finally the fixing cover 160 encloses the entire component.
