Title:
ROTARY GLIDING SHIP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH03204387
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make the high speed running of a large ship possible by providing a rotary face of a rotary lift body which is symmetrical on both sides and rotates under water to give a lift to a ship body about in parallel with a water surface, forming slight irregularity on the rotary face, and providing a propelling machine on the ship body.

CONSTITUTION: In propelling a rotary gliding ship 1 at high speed, when a rotary lift body 2 rotates under water, a rotary face 2b shakes off the water during its rotation to push a water surface downward for making its reaction give lift to the lift body 2. When the lift body 2 provided symmetrically on both sides on the side of a ship bottom 4a rotates under water, the rotation of the body 2 makes the lift act on a ship body 3 to float it up for decreasing the volume under water of the ship body 3, and propulsion resistance caused by the water against the ship body under water therefore decreases. In addition to that, since an irregularity on the rotary face 2b of the lift body 2 is slight, sliding action is easily generated between the rotary face 2b and the water surface to cause a sliding phenomenon during high speed propulsion. Thus the ship body 3 can be propelled as if it slides on the water surface.
