Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary grind stone for highly accurately grinding the end face of a disk-like substrate to a target shape, and also to provide a method for production of a glass substrate for magnetic disk using the rotary grind stone in a grinding treatment.SOLUTION: When grinding the end face of a disk-like substrate 10 while inclining a rotational axis 14 of a rotary grind stone 12 to an axis orthogonal to the main surface of the disk-like substrate 10, a cross-sectional shape formed by cutting the grinding surface of the rotary grind stone 12 contacting with the end face of the disk-like substrate 10 along the plane containing the rotary axis 14 is protruded toward the end face of the disk-like substrate 10. The end face of the disk-like substrate 10 is ground using this rotary grind stone 12.
