PURPOSE: To provide a lifting device capable of efficiently and rapidly transporting passengers in a continuous fashion without impeding availability of the internal space of a high-rise building.
CONSTITUTION: Eight elevator shafts 5a-5h are sectioned on the outer peripheral surface of a main spindle 1 supported at its upper and lower ends by bearing members 2, 3 and rotating at a constant speed, and cars 11a-11h are elevatably disposed in the shafts 5a-5h. Winding devices 10a-10h are radially secured to a flat installation 9 on the top of the main spindle 1 and the cages 11a-11h are individually driven to rise or fall via winding ropes 12. Each pair of cages 11a-11h located in symmetry with respect to the main spindle 1 are interconnected by ropes 16a-16d. The winding devices 10a-10h are individually controlled according to the positions of the cages 11a-11h detected by position detecting sensors 13a-13h along rotating direction, so that the cages 11a-11h sequentially rise or fall.
