PURPOSE: To simply perform the top and tail register estimation prior to start-up of operation by a press wherein sensors for angle of rotation are provided on the rotary shaft of a plate cylinder, the wheel rotary shaft of a puncher, the rotary shaft of a perforation machine and the driving rotary shaft of a zigzag folder.

CONSTITUTION: With a drive unit 6 being stopped, the motor 34 of a differential device 33 for the top and tail register adjustment to rotate a plate cylinder 80, so that the angular position of the plate cylinder 80 from the point where a proximity switch 97 has sensed a projection 96 is detected using a sensor 104 for angle of rotation provided on the rotary shaft 94 of the plate cylinder 80 in a plate cylinder exchange unit 43. At the same time, sensors for angle of rotation provided on the rotary shaft of the plate cylinder in a backcarbon printing section, the rotary shaft of a puncher, the rotary shaft of the perforation cylinder of a transversal perforation machine and the rotary shaft of the crank disc of a zigzag folder, as well as differential devices for the top and tail register adjustment provided between those rotary shafts and the corresponding drive unit, are also operated in a similar manner.
