PURPOSE: To obtain an economical rotary printing machine, in which a rubber cloth cylinder and a plate cylinder can be set retractably by integrating them with a cylinder group via mechanical coupling for a driver and driving each cylinder through its own drive motor.
CONSTITUTION: A paper web to be printed is guided between the rubber cloth cylinders (cylinders) of two cylinder groups 10 disposed mutually opposite. Each cylinder group comprises a rubber cloth cylinder 2 and a plate cylinder 3 arranged therefore, and both cylinder groups are coupled mechanically with each other to be driven commonly. Each rubber cloth cylinder is driven through an AC three-phase motor 5. Alternatively, a press cylinder 4 facing the rubber cloth cylinder is coupled mechanically with the rubber cloth cylinder 2, a print region is formed of only one cylinder group 10 and not only the rubber cloth cylinder 2 but also the plate cylinder 3 arranged on the rubber cylinder may be driven through the rotary motor 5.
