To provide a rotary regenerative heat exchanger which can be smoothly put in and taken out from a rotor body even if it is operated for a long period of time.
In the rotary regenerative heat exchanger, the rotor body is rotatably equipped in a housing, a plurality of baskets are inserted into sectors which are formed by multiply-dividing the rotor body by radial diaphragms, heating elements used as heat storage bodies are filled in a stacked state in the basket, and by alternately contacting with a high temperature fluid such as exhaust gas and a low temperature fluid such as combustion air to the heat transfer elements, the heat of the high temperature fluid is transferred to the low temperature fluid. A number of spacer bars are intermittently attached at suitable intervals to side plates of the baskets facing the diaphragms.
