To provide a rotary sensor capable of lengthening the service life.
This rotary sensor 1 has a housing 2 connected to a vehicle body B, a rotor 3 rotatably installed to the housing 2 and rotating to the housing 2 in response to rotation of a stand S to the vehicle body B, a detecting object 36 composed of a conductive material and held by a rotor 3, a coil 81 held by the housing 2 and changing a distance to the detecting object 36 in response to rotation of the rotor 3 to the housing 2, and a detecting circuit 82 for detecting the direction of the stand S to the vehicle body B based on impedance of the coil 81. The deterioration by abrasion such as a contact point is not caused since the coil 81 and the detecting object 36 do not contact with each other, so that the service life can be lengthened more than when using the contact point.
