Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make a potential application means for a sliding member with small capacity and in a small size by such a construction that the sliding member gets a heat because of the sliding and, when a specific temp. is attained, a shape memory alloy will deform to the shape which is in memory to provide an increased braking force. CONSTITUTION:When pressure oil is introduced to an oil hydraulic cylinder 5, brake shoes 3, 3' are expanded outwards with a shaft 8 as center and pressed against the inside circumferential surface of a rotary drum 1 to make sliding contact there. This sliding contact generates frictional heat, which is transmitted to a shape memory alloy 4. Then temp. of this alloy 4 rises, and when a certain specific temp. is attained, the alloy wished to deform into a shape 4M which is in memory. Now the brake shoes 3, 3' are pressed stronger to the internal circumferential surface of the rotary drum 1 to give a twice increased braking force.
