To prevent a contact part for applying an on and off switch torque to the retainer of a two-way clutch from being worn or damaged in a rotary transmission device capable of the on and off of the two-way clutch by an electromagnetic clutch.
This rotary transmission device comprises the two-way clutch 10 installed between an inner ring 1 and an outer ring 2 and the electromagnetic clutch 20 controlling the two-way clutch 10. The electromagnetic clutch 20 is formed of a connecting plate 21 fitted to the retainer 14 of the two-way clutch 10, an armature 22, a rotor 23 rotating integrally with the outer ring 2, and an electromagnet 24 attracting the armature 22 to the rotor 23. An engagement piece 25 formed on the outer periphery of the connecting plate 21 is inserted into an engagement hole 26 formed in the armature 22 to stop the rotation of the armature 22 and axially movable support the armature 22. Projected parts 27 are formed on both sides of the engagement hole so that, even if the armature 22 is axially moved, a contact area between the engagement piece 25 and the engagement hole 26 can be kept constant to prevent the contact part from being worn or damaged.
