To provide a rotary type pump capable of maintaining the sealing performance of a mechanical seal part even when fluid containing a number of solid constituents is transported.
Spiral grooves 40 are formed over a rotating shaft 38 projected out of the hole 11a of a casing 11 at positions opposite to a spring engaging stationary cylinder 23 and a stationary ring 24. When the rotating shaft 38 is rotated, fluid within a clearance 31 is stirred by the irregularities of the spiral grooves 40, and solid particles 32 in the fluid are prevented from being accumulated in the clearance 31, or being adhered onto the inner circumferential wall surfaces of the stationary cylinder 23 and the stationary ring 24. This constitution thereby allows the stationary ring 24 to be pressed onto a rotating ring 26 with optimum pressure at all times without any resistance, so that the sealing performance of a mechanical seal 20 part can be maintained.
