Title:
ROTARY VALVE MECHANISM FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5656917
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To raise the efficiency of charging fuel into a combustion chamber, by making the diameter of an inlet port formed in the body of a rotary valve smaller than that of an outlet port, producing a greater centrifugal force at the outlet side by reason of the difference in the centrifugal force produced when the body of the rotary valve is rotated, and thereby increasing the velocity of fuel flow. CONSTITUTION:An inlet port D is formed in the body 106 of a rotary valve at a portion of the circumference around a small-diameter portion 106a. The inlet port D is connected to one end of a intake passage A formed radially in a medium-diameter portion 106b in the manner that it is curved from the small-diameter portion 106a toward the medium-diameter portion 106b. The other end of the intake passage A is opened at a portion of the circumference around the medium- diameter portion 106b for forming an outlet port F. This outlet port F is formed on the same circumference of portion 106b where an exhaust-gas inlet port M is formed, but it is located with a proper phase difference to the port M, so that the port F comes into registry with an opening N selectively. In housing 105, there is opened an outlet port I of a fuel supply passage connected selectively to inlet port D. With such an arrangement, fuel drawing and charging efficiency can be improved by the difference of centrifugal force that is causedly the difference of diameter of inlet port D and that of outlet port F.
