Abstract:
PURPOSE:To rotate a rotary valve lightly and to reduce the power loss by splitting a cylinder head for arranging a rotary valve having the rotary shaft on the centerline of a combustion chamber vertically into two and arranging the bevel section of the rotary valve airtightly between the upper and lower cylinder head sections. CONSTITUTION:A rotary valve type engine E opens/closes the exhaust ports 12, 13 by means of a rotary valve 14 having a rotary shaft 14a supported approx imately along the center line 15 of a combustion chamber 9. Here, a cylinder head 8 is constructed with a lower head section 8l having a semispherical combustion chamber 9 recessed in the lower face thereof and an upper head section 8u to be jointed to the upper face of said lower head section 8l. Intake and exhaust ports 12, 13 are provided while penetrating through the joint face between the upper and lower head sections 8u, 8l and opening to the combustion chamber 9. The rotary valve 14 is integrally provided with a conical bevel section 14b at one end thereof and said bevel section 14b is arranged airtightly between the facing surfaces of the upper and lower head sections 8u, 8l.
