PURPOSE: To reduce the size and the weight of a rotating apparatus by forming frequency signal holding means of a magnetic paint film.

CONSTITUTION: A rotating apparatus used for a VTR capstan motor is composed of a base 1, a bearing 2, a capstan shaft 3, a rotor case 4, a rotor magnet 5 and a stator 6. In this case, a magnetic paint film 9 is formed on the entire peripheral surface of the case 4 to record signal information of predetermined frequency. A detecting head 8 is so disposed at a predetermined interval from the peripheral surface as to detect the signal information. Thus, the signal information from the film 9 is detected by the head 8 to be used for controlling the current of the stator 6. Since the film 9 is thin, the entire apparatus can be reduced in size and weight.
