PURPOSE: To provide the rotating shaft of a motor and its manufacturing method which facilitate the reduction of a manufacturing cost and the improvement of the mass-productivity.
CONSTITUTION: A recessed trench 36 which is extended in a circumferential direction is carved in the inner circumferential part of a cylindrical member 31 of which the main part of the rotating shaft of a motor is composed to form a reduced-thickness part 37 which has a smaller thickness than the wall of the cylindrical member 31. A recessed trench 32b having an approximately U-shaped cross-section is carved in the inner circumferential part of an annular flange member 32. After the flange member 32 is positioned in an axial direction so as to make the recessed trench 32b face the reduced-thickness part 37 radially and put onto the outer circumferential part of the cylindrical member 37, the cylindrical member 31 is compressed in the axial direction to swell the reduced- thickness part 37 radially outward so as to fit to the recessed trench 32b of the flange member 32 and a flange part 33 is formed.
