PURPOSE: To avoid a collision between a bill and blades by adjusting the rotating speed of an accumulation wheel based on the difference between the specific- position passing timing of a bill and the specific-rotary angle timing of the accumulation wheel in an automatic cash depositing/withdrawing machine or the like.

CONSTITUTION: A photosensor 9 is arranged at a specific position of a conveyor passage 2 feeding a bill to an accumulation wheel 1 to detect the passing bill. On the other hand, the passing of blades of the accumulation wheel 1 at a specific position is detected by a slit of a rotary disk 8 fitted to a shift 6 and an interrupter 7. The timing when the bill is fed to the accumulation wheel 1 over a distance L of the conveyor passage 2 at a predetermined speed and the timing when the position between blades 3, 3 is rotated to the extension line of the conveyor passage 2 are determined based on the signals of both detectors 7, 9, and the rotating speed of a drive motor 5 is adjusted based on the time difference.
