Abstract:
PURPOSE:To precisely detect the rotational unevenness of the rotary mirror by the rotation detecting mechanism for the rotary polygon mirror. CONSTITUTION:A light beam scanning device equipped with the rotary polygon mirror irradiates a reflecting surface 17B, which is different from a reflecting surface 17A reflecting a scanning light beam 11a making a scan on a scanned body, with a light beam 11B for rotation detection, which is reflected and deflected; and the reflected light beam 11B for rotation detection is reflected toward a photodetector 23 by plural reflecting means which are arranged at intervals in the deflecting direction of the light beam 11B. The photodetector 23 photodetects the light beam 11B for rotation detection and generates pulses for correcting the rotation of the rotary polygon mirror. Further, a start point detector 24 and an end point detector 25 which detects the start point and end point of the scanning of the light beam 11A for scanning many be provided and a light shield means which prevents the light beam 11B for rotation detection from reaching the scanned body may also be provided between the scanned body and reflecting means.
