To perform a new water stop for a detection part in a wheel speed sensor with the detection part provided with only a resin coating.
This wheel speed sensor is used for detecting magnetic field variations owing to the rotation of a detected body by a hall IC 11, converting it into an electric signal, and outputting it. The detection part includes only a resin coating. In molding the resin coating, a resin inlet port T is put in a position apart from a sheath end face of a cable 6 provided with the resin coating in the length direction of a sheath 6c by a minimum adhesion length L or more allowing its adhesion to be kept between the sheath 6c and the resin coating while a water-stopping protrusive ridge is provided all around contact parts of presser pins c to a holder 20 and a cover 8 of the detection part. Owing to this inlet port T being apart therefrom by the adhesion length or more and the protrusive ridge, water is effectively prevented from coming from the surface of the resin coating. Therefore, water is hardly coming into the detection part even if a void, etc. are developed in the vicinity of the inlet port of the resin coating.
