Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable surely judging malfunction and detecting absolute rotation position with high accuracy and high resolution by combining two sensors.
CONSTITUTION: In a complex rotation position senson 10, an incremental rotary encoder 12 and a two shaft type rotary potensiometer 14 are arranged on a common axis. A malfunction judgment circuit 112 receives the output signal from a counter 106 counting the output signal from the encoder 12 and the output signal from the potensiometer 14 and detects the malfunction of the sensor 10 when the difference between the two outputs exeeds a predetermined value or when the output from the meter 14 becomes 0 or the maximum value. Until a standard point detection circuit 104 detects the standard point (Z phase) 76 of the encoder 12 at the startup, the counter 106 counts the output signals of the encoder 12 from the initial value of the output signal of a potensio detection angle calculation circuit 116. After the circuit 104 detects the point 76, it counts the output signals of the encoder 12 from the standard of the point 76. A rotation position calculation circuit 110 inputs the output signal based on the count and outputs the rotation position signal.
