To provide a rotation transmission device allowing a bidirectional clutch to accurately actuate without miss-engagement thereof.
A retainer 16 of a bidirectional clutch 10 which is controlled to engage and release engagement by an electromagnetic clutch 60 and performs transmission and disconnection of rotation between an input shaft 1 and an output shaft 2 is formed by a control retainer 16A and a rotation retainer 16B, pillar parts 22, 26 formed with the control retainer and the rotation retainer on outer peripheral parts of flanges 21, 25 are circumferentially and alternately arranged, and a pocket 27 is formed between the pillar parts, so that a pair of rollers 15 incorporated into the pocket is displaced by the pillar part to an engagement release position by relative rotation between the control retainer and the rotation retainer. Between the input shaft 1 and the control retainer and the rotation retainer, a rotation angle regulating means is provided which blocks further relative rotation of the retainers in the same direction, so that shock force produced when the control retainer and the rotation retainer are stopped at a neutral position is prevented from being loaded to a holder 55 for preventing the rollers from coming off.
