Abstract:

To provide a rotation transmitting device, easily releasing the engagement of a two-way clutch and preventing the occurrence of a pop-out phenomenon and a roll-over phenomenon.

A cylindrical surface 11 is formed on the inner periphery of an outer ring 2, a cam face 12 is provided on the outer periphery of an input shaft 1, and a roller 13 assembled between the cam face 12 and the cylindrical surface 11 is held by a cage 14. This rotation transmitting device includes: a frictional coupling means 20 causing slippage by the axial force loaded between the outer ring 2 and the cage 14; and an axial force applying means 30 for applying the axial force to the frictional coupling means 20. The axial force is applied from the axial force applying means 30 to the frictional coupling means 20 to couple the outer ring 2 and the cage 14, the roller 13 is engaged with the cylindrical surface 11 and the cam face 12 by the relative rotation of the cage 14 and the input shaft 1, in the engagement state, the coefficient μ of friction and a wedge angle θ of a roller contact part has the relationship expressed by μ<tan(θ/2) to facilitate the engagement and disengagement of the two-way clutch, and at the time of excessive torque load, slippage is caused by the frictional coupling means 20 to prevent the occurrence of a pop-out phenomenon and a roll-over phenomenon.
