To reduce the number of parts and shorten an axial length in a rotation transmission device wherein a two-way clutch is assembled between an outer ring and a second shaft assembled at inside of the outer ring and engagement and disengagement of the two-way clutch is controlled by an electromagnetic clutch.
The two-way clutch 10 is assembled between the outer ring 2 and the second shaft 5 assembled at inside of the outer ring 2 and the electromagnetic clutch 30 is provided together with the two-way clutch 10 to control engagement and disengagement of the two-way clutch 10. The two-way clutch 30 is a roller clutch having a structure in which a roller 13 is assembled between a cylinder surface 11 formed on an outer peripheral of a large diameter part 8 and a plurality of cam surfaces 12 formed at an inner peripheral of the outer ring 2 and the roller 13 is held by a retainer 14. A positioning groove 17 is formed at an inner peripheral of an opening end part of the outer ring 2, a protruding part 19 is formed at an outer peripheral of the retainer 14, the retainer 14 is axially positioned by rotatably fitting the protruding part 19 to the positioning groove 17 and thus the number of parts is reduced and the axial length of the rotation transmission device is shortened.
