To provide a rotational plastic working apparatus and an operation method for the rotational plastic working apparatus capable of improving plastic working accuracy of a preheated workpiece.
The rotational plastic working apparatus is provided with a tailstock mechanism 18 for pressing a pressing member 19 to a workpiece 4 so as to hold the preheated workpiece 4 with a molding die 17 and the pressing member 19, and a control means C for activating a moving mechanism 3 so as to move a roller 2 from the end side toward the base end of the molding die 17 through a plurality of steps each having different moving trajectory of the end of the roller 2, for performing plastic working of the workpiece 4 into a shape along the outer circumferential surface of the molding die 17. The tailstock mechanism 18 is configured to freely change pressing force with which the pressing member 19 is pressed to the workpiece 4. The control means C is configured to control operation of the tailstock mechanism 18 so that the pressing force is increased at a time when the roller 2 is moved in steps later than the first step as compared with a time when the roller 2 is moved at the first step.
