To provide a structure for holding a rotor core in which each magnetic pole divided in a shaft direction and relatively rotated can be made close to each other without interference, and to provide a variable field permanent magnet rotating electric machine having a low iron loss and small torque required for relative movement.
In the variable field permanent magnet rotating electric machine, a rotor core of the permanent magnet rotating electric machine is divided in a shaft direction. The divided cores are each relatively rotated to change a magnetic field. The head of a member for holding the relative rotating rotor cores is provided inside an end surface of the relative rotating surface of the rotor core.
