To provide a rotor for rotating electrical machines whose resistance to centrifugal force can be enhanced and to provide a rotating electrical machine.
The rotor 12 of a rotating electrical machine 10 includes a magnetic steel sheet laminate 16 obtained by laminating multiple magnetic steel sheets 14 in the axial direction. Each magnetic steel sheet is provided with a void 22 in a position away outward from the rotation center in the radial direction. Each magnetic steel sheet 14 has a radial bridge portion 26 extending in the radial direction between voids 22 arranged side by side in the circumferential direction. Residual compressive stress is applied to rounded portions R 32, 34 at both ends of each radial bridge portion 26 in the radial direction.
