PURPOSE: To improve reliability by winding an thin insulating material onto a superconducting wire for a superconducting field coil, inserting inter-layer insulating materials among the layers of the coil and forming a cooling path.
CONSTITUTION: A rotor for a superconducting rotary electric machine is composed of a coil mounting shaft 2 with a slot 18 and a helium flowing hole 22, superconducting field coils 25, a lower insulating material 27, an upper insulating material 28, an insulating material 29 in the slot, inter-layer insulating materials 30 and a cylindrical body 31 fitted on the outer circumferential side of the coil mounting shaft 2. The superconducting field coil 25 is shaped by winding plural rows and plural layers of superconducting wires 25a, and a thin insulating material 26 is wound on the superconducting wire 25a and inter-row insulation is conducted. A cooling path 27a continuously connected to the helium flowing hole 22 such as various cooling paths 2a, 29a, 30a is formed, and the refrigerant of helium is made to flow through the each cooling path, thus cooling said coil 25.
