Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a roughened copper foil excellent in anchoring effect with a simple process in good yield by AC-electrolyzing a copper foil produced by a drum foil producing device in a sulfuric acid-base electrolyte.
CONSTITUTION: A copper foil produced by a drum electrolytic foil producing device 1 or by rolling and used as an anode is AC-electrolyzed in a roughening tank 2 with aq. sulfuric acid or a mixed aq. soln. of sulfuric acid and copper sulfate added with an additive of an inorg. or org. compd. as an electrolyte 23 by applying a current with an indirect feeding method using a bipolar phenonmenon, and the surface is roughened. The treated foil is sufficiently washed with water in a washing tank 3 and introduced into a plating tank 4. Smooth plating is applied therein using an iridium oxide electrode 41 as the counter electrode in sulfuric acid or copper sulfate-contg. plating soln 43. The plated foil is washed with water in a washing tank 5, passed through a CrO3-contg. chromating tank 6 to make the foil surface rust-proof by the chromate, cooled in a cooler 7 and wound on a coil 8.
