This route guide system has a current position detecting part; a route search processing means; a recommended lane setting processing means; a travel lane specifying processing means, an introducing processing means for introducing own vehicle to a recommended lane; a lane transition determination processing means for deciding whether own vehicle is moved to the recommended lane; a transition situation determination processing means for estimating the presence of an intention of a driver of moving own vehicle to the recommended lane, according to the introduction, when own vehicle is not moved to the recommended lane; and a guide restraint processing means for canceling or delaying the lane guide, when the driver is inferred as having the intention of moving own vehicle to the recommended lane, according to the introduction. The lane guide is prevented from being repeated unnecessarily, because the introduction to the recommended lane is not repeated, and route guide is simplified thereby.
