To obtain a route guiding method by which user-centered high- accuracy route guidance can be realized by causing users to select facilities adjoining to a destination by displaying a facility list on a map displaying device and a navigator having a function for guiding routes to peripheral facilities.
A navigator is provided with such a means that, when a user sets a destination, the means automatically retrieves the facilities adjoining to the destination from the information recorded on a digital map recording medium 100 and displays the retrieved results on a map displaying device 101 as a destination peripheral facility list. When the user selects one arbitrary facility from the list, the means automatically searches the route from the present location or an arbitrary starting point to the facility from the information recorded on the medium 100 and guides the user to the facility. Therefore, user-centered high-accuracy route guidance can be realized.
