To provide a rubber-coated wire strand enabling a given stress to be held against external force, or the like, adhesion to a rubber material to be secured, as a result, high in rustproofness and having vibration-absorbing effect and enabling frictional heat generation to be suppressed, and to provide belts and plies each using the above wire strands.
This rubber-coated wire strand 59 is produced by the following process: a strand 41 made by laying a plurality of wires 41a is passed through an unwinding device 48 to unwind the respective wires 41a to form a specified space S therebetween; in this state, the outer circumferences of the respective wires 41a are each provided with a rubber thin film coating and the wires 41a return to the original laid condition.
