To provide a rubber composition for a base tread which has been developed under full consideration to the resource saving and the friendliness to the environment protection and also exhibits characteristics suitable for a base tread rubber, particularly excellent low rolling resistance performances and high-speed durable performances by further raising the content ratio of a material composed of a resource other than petroleum and to provide a pneumatic tire having the base tread rubber composed of the rubber composition.
The rubber composition for the base tread comprises zinc oxide particles having 200 nm average particle diameter in an amount of 0.1-10 pts.mass based on 100 pts.mass of a rubber component. The pneumatic tire is provided with the base tread rubber 8 composed of the rubber composition.
