PURPOSE: To provide the titled rubber compsn., by a method wherein an alkoxyalkyl acrylate, a diester of maleic acid (or fumaric acid) and acrylonitrile are polymerized in the presence of a polyester (or a polyether), and the resulting product is crosslinked.
CONSTITUTION: 30W80pts.wt. of an alkoxyalkyl acrylate (a), 70W10pts.wt. of a diester of maleic acid or fumaric acid (b) and 0W40pts.wt. of acrylonitrile (c) are polymerized in the presence of 10W50pts.wt. [based on 100pts.wt. of the sum of (a)+(b)+(c) components] of a polyester or a polyether (d). Alternatively, a polymer resulting from the polymn. of 30W80pts.wt. of (a) component, 70W 10pts.wt. of (b) component and 0W40pts.wt. of (c) component is mixed witn 10W50pts.wt. of (d) component. The resulting polymer (or mixt.) is crosslinked to obtain the titled rubber compsn. suitable for use as a fuel hose and capable of resisting an alcohol-contg. gasoline.
