Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce the difference in wear rate between members by specifying the composition of a rubber composition for mounting on a paved surface and that of an annular cushioning material in covering the upper surface of a cover with the rubber composition and providing the annular cushioning material around it.
CONSTITUTION: An embedded manhole cover 1 is covered at its upper surface with a rubber composition 4 for mounting on a paved surface and with an annular manhole cover cushioning material 5 and is embedded while its upper surface is flush with a road surface. The rubber composition 4 and the cushioning material 5 are both composed of 100 parts by weight of general-purpose rubber or a mixture of general-purpose rubber and thermoplastic resin, 70 to 300 parts by weight of soft carbon and 30 to 300 parts by weight of white filling agent. when necessary 5 to 25 parts by weight of black substitute and 0 to 20 parts by weight of cork powder are added thereto. A display portion of characters, etc., made from a material with a wear rate equivalent to that of the cushioning material 5 is embedded in the cushioning material 5 in such a manner as to pass through the material in the direction of thickness. Formation of a gap due to the difference in wear and flowing properties between them can thus be prevented and the loss of the display portion due to wear can be prevented.
