To provide a rubber composition achieving the reduction of rolling resistance by exhibiting more superior low heat build-up while improving the compatibility between a rubber component and a filler without increasing the amount of a compounded butadiene polymer, and having excellent breaking resistance, and to provide a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition.
The rubber composition include 10-60 pts.mass of the butadiene polymer having a conjugated modifying group, and carbon black having a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (N2SA) of 70-160 m2/g and a DBP adsorption of 90-180 ml/100 g in 100 pts.mass of the rubber component. The butadiene polymer is modified with a modifier of a heterocyclic nitrile compound represented by formula (I): θ-C≡N or (II): θ-R-C≡N (wherein, θ is a heterocyclic group; and R is a divalent hydrocarbon group), and has ≥40% of the cis content in the rubber composition. The pneumatic tire is obtained by using the rubber composition in a cap rubber part.
