To provide a rubber composition resistant to chlorine water, having high durability and useful as a material for water section by improving the chlorine water resistance of an ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber composition.
The rubber composition resistant to chlorine water, having high durability and useful as a material for water section is an ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber composition containing 100 pts. wt. of an ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber, 15-95 pts. wt. of white carbon having a specific surface area of 50-300 m2/g and 2-10 pts. wt. of an organic peroxide. The chemical structure sensitive to the deterioration with chlorine in water and existing in large quantity in the conventional ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber composition is improved to form the rubber composition resistant to chlorine water, having high durability and useful for water section by using an ethylene-propylene copolymer rubber free from diene component, adding white carbon as a reinforcing material and compounding an organic peroxide as a crosslinking agent.
