To provide a rubber composition excellent in initial adhesiveness and moisture and heat resistant adhesiveness and reducing environmental loads when composition components are compounded into a rubber component, and to provide a tire excellent in durability.
The rubber composition is obtained by compounding 0.1 to 10 parts by mass of catechins into 100 parts by mass of a rubber component. The tire includes a carcass 4 comprising one or more carcass plies and a belt 5 comprising one or more belt layers disposed outside the carcass 4 in a radius direction of the tire, at least one of the carcass 4 and the belt 5 having a layer made of a steel cord coated with a coating rubber, wherein the above rubber composition is used for the coating rubber that covers the steel cord in at least one of the carcass 4 and the belt 5.
