Abstract:

To provide a rubber composition for a tread that exhibits an enhanced balance among abrasion resistance, chipping/cutting resistance and a heat build-up property of a tread, particularly a rubber composition suitable for a tread for a tire for a high load, and to provide a rubber composition for a tread exhibiting an enhanced balance among on-ice performances, elongation properties and hardness of a tread, particularly a rubber composition suitable for a tread for a studless tire and further for a studless tire for a high load.

The rubber composition for a tread comprises 10-30 wt.% of a butadiene rubber, having dispersed therein a syndiotactic 1,2-polybutadiene having an average primary particle size of at most 100 nm, in the rubber component and carbon black having a nitrogen adsorption specific surface area of 120-170 m2/g.
