To improve the workability and productivity of a rubber composition used for sheathing the steel code of a tire without impairing its vulcanization characteristic.
A rubber composition used for sheathing a steel code comprises 100 parts by weight of diene-system rubber including 40 or more parts by weight of natural rubber, 2 to 10 parts by weight of sulfur, and 10 or less parts by weight of polysiloxane of mean polymerization degrees of 3 to 10,000 including alkoxycylyl substantially represented by Si-OR or acyloxycylyl substantially represented by Si-OCOR2, where R1 represents a substituted or non-substituted monovalent hydrocarbon radical with 1 to 18 carbon or an ether linkage- including organic radical, and R2 represents a hydrocarbon radical with 1 to 21 hydrogen or carbon.
