Abstract:
To provide a rubber-like composition capable of sustaining excellent chewing sensation in the mouth for a long time and free from causing uncomfortable bitter taste through improving a technique for the rubber-like composition such as gum base of a combination of gelatin and polyphenol.
This rubber-like composition contains gelatin, polyphenol such as tannin and catechin, and a coagulating agent selected from the group consisting of multivalent metal salt such as calcium lactate and phenol oxidizing enzyme such as laccase. The composition contains gelatin, polyphenol and glycerin and is subjected to dry treatment. Alternatively, the composition contains gelatin, polyphenol, glycerin and other materials and is obtained by gelatinization.
