Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve adhesion on the interface between an outer layer and an inner layer comprising a resin of a composite roller by compounding a hydrogenated styrene block copolymer by a specified proportion into a thermoplastic elastomer to form the outer layer.
CONSTITUTION: This roller is a hollow pipe-like roller having a two-layer structure of an inner layer 1 and an outer layer 2 and is provided with a member 4 of the same resin as the inner layer 1 on both ends and provided with a shaft 5 on both ends. The inner layer is a resin layer comprising polyphenylene ether or the like and having 1-20mm thickness. The outer layer 2 consists of a compsn. prepared by compounding 1-10 pts.wt., preferably 2-8 pts.wt., of hydrogenated styrene block copolymer to 100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic elastomer. The thickness of the outer layer 2 is 0.5-15mm thick, preferably 1-5mm. The inner layer 1 and the outer layer 2 are formed by two-layer coextrusion method. By this method, adhesion on the interface between the inner layer 1 and the outer layer 2 can be improved so that even when rotational torque is added on the roller, slipping on the interface can be prevented.
