The running control device is equipped with a running path maintaining means to give a torque to a steering mechanism so that the vehicle runs in the specified position on the running path and a selecting means to select whether the control of the running path maintaining means should be executed, and judges whether the control of the running path maintaining means should be executed on the basis of the select condition by the selecting means and the condition of a cruise control means, and when either of the select condition by the selecting means and the condition of the cruise control means has varied, presents a display to show that the situation is such as to allow starting the control of the running path maintaining means if the condition is such that the control of the running path maintaining means may be executed.
