Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a running position detecting system by utilizing light receiving elements in a guidance line detecting system.
SOLUTION: Centers of detection breadths of the left and right light receiving elements 10b, 10c out of three light receiving elements 10a, 10b and 10c for tracking guidance lines are brought in line with left and right edge lines e of the guidance line 1 respectively. A detection breadth of the middle light receiving element 10a is made to be equal to a breadth of the guidance line 1. On the basis of variations of light receiving quantities of the three light receiving elements, a quantity of a shift of the self-propelled object from the center line s of the guidance line 1 is calculated and detected. A plurality of virtual guidance lines between the center lines s, s of the guidance lines 1, 1 are defined by a running control means (MPU 3) of the self-propelled object. On the basis of correlation among the light receiving quantities of the three light receiving elements and the virtual guidance lines, the virtual line is specified from detection values of the light receiving quantities of the three light receiving elements and recognized as a position of the self-propelled object between the center lines s, s of the guidance lines 1, 1.
