To provide a running speed holding mechanism as improvement of a conventional arrangement structured as holding the speed by fixing a shift operating tool mechanically, involving problems wherein fine speed regulation is difficult owing to restriction of the operating tool fixing position and wherein the layout of its speed holding operating tool cannot be set freely because a fixing mechanism of the operating tool is formed from a link etc.
A vehicle 1 is equipped with a continuously variable transmission device 13 furnished with a motor 348 operated by a shifting pedal 74 as the shift operating tool, in which the motor 348 is stopped operating when the running speed holding mechanism is actuated, and it is made practicable to hold the speed and disengage the hold at an arbitrary speed using an auto-cruise lever 355 as the speed holding operating tool installed below a steering wheel 8 and inside its periphery. When the running speed holding mechanism is actuated, the shifting pedal 74 is put in the low speed operating position.
