To provide a method for reducing or even evading the stagnation of dampening water of an ink arrangement particularly during the restart or start process frequently performed in an offset press or a device for implementing the method.
The device and method are configured to operate the offset press 17 equipped with at least one printing unit 1 having the ink arrangement 18, a plate cylinder 12 for holding a form plate 13, a blanket cylinder 20, an impression cylinder 21, and a dampening arrangement 19 and to control the dampening water application from the dampening arrangement 19 to the plate cylinder 12, in which the preliminary moistening of the form plate 13 is implemented and the printing pressure addition between the blanket cylinder 20 and the impression cylinder 21 and the conveyance of the matter to be printed passing the offset press 17 are started and thereafter, the dampening water supply of the printing unit 17 to the plate cylinder 12 is drastically reduced at least once for the prescribed short time and, thereby avoiding the stagnation of the excess dampening water produced by the preliminary moistening in the ink arrangement 18 for a long period of time.
