Abstract:

To provide a new polypeptide, to provide a polynucleotide encoding the polypeptide, to provide a method of using the polypeptide and the polynucleotide in therapy or in identification of a compound which is an agonist, an antagonist, and/or a inhibitor useful in the therapy, and to provide a method for producing the polypeptide and the polynucleotide.

A sialoadhesin family 4 (SAF-4) polypeptide, the polynucleotide, the method for producing the polypeptide by a recombination technique are disclosed in the specification, respectively. Further, the method for utilizing the SAF-4 polypeptide and the polynucleotide in the therapy and a method of diagnostic assay for utilizing the same are disclosed, respectively.
