The saddle-stitched book 1 with a non-contact IC tag 2 stores information relative to an attached book and communicates with an external reader/writer using an electric wave of a specified frequency. In this book 1, the non-contact IC tag is retained on the inner surface side of a face cover 4a or a back cover 4c, and the inner surface of the face cover 4a or the back cover 4c and the endpaper 6 of the cover are stuck together so as not to allow visual inspection from outside. The non-contact IC tag 2 may be retained by putting together two adjacent pages of the text.
