To provide a saddle type vehicle equipped with at least a pair of wheels, and capable of turning with its body tilted and performing the limitation of the tilting of the body or its release automatically.
The saddle type vehicle is equipped with a supporting mechanism to support the pair of wheels in such a way as to be movable vertically relative to the body, a locking mechanism 50 connected with the supporting mechanism and limiting the vertical movement of the pair of wheels, sensors 81, 83R, 83L, 85 of different sorts to sense the state of the vehicle, and a control part 91 to control the locking mechanism 50 on the basis of sensing results of the sensors. Because the limitation or release of the vertical movement of the pair of wheels is conducted automatically by the control part 91, a rider is not required to make any particular manipulation about the motion of the locking mechanism 50. In addition, the locking mechanism 50 is controlled according to the state of the vehicle, thus allowing the rider to travel lightly and comfortably.
