Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply construct a safety cover for the inertial rotation of a grinding wheel.
SOLUTION: In a grinder, the drive shaft of a drive source is fitted into a center hole in a disc-shaped grinding wheel, the grinding wheel is secured to the drive shaft by tightening the exposed part of the penetrating drive shaft with a nut, and the grinder includes a cover covering the entire grinding wheel and having an opening for a grinding operation. A closing lid 9 freely sliding over the opening 6 in the cover 1 and capable of covering the grinding wheel whose working part is exposed is held open in association with the action of an actuating switch 17 of a drive source 3 so that the grinding operation can be performed; when a stopping switch 18 of the drive source is operated, the closing lid is released from its fixed state and slides to hold the opening in the cover 1 closed. The closing lid is freely slidably placed between the cover preventing splashing of ground powders of workpieces and the grinding wheel.
